The George Sherwin Commemorative Bandstand commemorates George Sherwin who was the first pioneer in the Whittlesea District.

Soon after taking up his pastoral run, George Sherwin built a slab hut near the Plenty River (probably on the opposite side of Lyndoch Park). In 1841 he travelled back to Parramatta, his birthplace, and married Margaret Thorne. On his return Sherwin commenced the construction of a more substantial dwelling. Lyndoch Park, as the dwelling became known, was erected over a long period from the 1850s by local builder, David Johnston. In c1900 a return verandah was erected around the house. George Sherwin is remembered for his community activities.

Bear's Castle was constructed in Yan Yean circa 1846 probably by two men, Hannaford and Edwards, who had recently arrived separately from Devon, England. It was built for John Bear an early pastoralist who had migrated from England with his family in 1841.
Funfields is a 15.7-hectare (39-acre) theme park located in the suburban fringe town of Whittlesea, approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Melbourne, Australia. Opened in 1985, originally as the Alpine Toboggan Park, it has over the years evolved into a multifaceted theme park encompassing a wide variety of wet and dry attractions, and is one of four major theme parks in Victoria. Due to Melbourne's climate and the water related nature of several of its attractions, the park closes during the colder winter months.
Yan Yean is Melbourne's oldest reservoir, supplying the city with its first water supply. Construction began in 1853, when Victoria's gold rush was in full flight. When completed in 1857, it was the world's largest artificial reservoir and Australia's first major dam.
In 1856, the Mornington Farmers' Society was formed and the Society's first Show was held at Cranbourne in 1857. Two years later Mornington, Bacchus Marsh and Gisborne held Shows and it was during 1859 that the Whittlesea Agricultural Society had its beginnings on a site near the Whittlesea Railway Station.
